Summary of PPG spending 2016/2017


·         We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of the pupils.

·         We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed.

·         Disadvantaged funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority individuals.

·         The children’s needs are paramount and the funding will swiftly close gaps in learning, in particular with a Speaking and Listening focus as our children enter the EYFS with such low starting points


Summary of spending and actions taken:

 ·         Employ a Speech and Language Specialist to benchmark children on entry and work in school with families, staff and children to deliver targeted interventions support/intervention

·   Partly funded from EYFS income.

·         Extend language rich experiences – visit to Bowes Museum, Toys in School





· Raised confidence and improved outcomes for children in relation to speaking and listening –Communication and Language development.



On entry 30% of this group were at ARE on exit 70%. The biggest difference being the improved Communication and Language 20% on entry at ARE, 70% on exit. 






Expected outcomes


Speech and Language Specialist to benchmark children and support families. Work with staff to deliver ELKLAN activities to PPG & vulnerable children in the EYFS. 1 afternoon per week

To work with the children & meet individual needs swiftly closing any speaking and listening gaps.



For all EYPP children to experience the enriched language environments.

Benchmark on entry and provide impact report on initiative to run from September 2016 until June 2017.
